Ok Blogging World, I'm ready to join you!

So, I've heard of blogs, I've read blogs, and I've thought about creating one for a couple years now, but I have never been brave enough to venture into this online world. But, here I am, and I would love for any advice on how to get started and make my blog reflect me. I figured that since I will be going to some far and exotic places this summer (i.e. Thailand and Vietnam) this would be a great way to document my experiences so my friends and family can easily access them.
